Applied-for mark “OLYMSTARS” is being opposed
Comité International Olympique (IOC), headquartered at Château de Vidy, CH-1007 Lausanne (Switzerland), owner of the International Trademark Registration IRN609691- OLYMPIC and IRN128501- OLYMPIC (“the cited marks”) for protection of services in Class 41 and other classes, currently in force in Vietnam, has petitioned with the IP Vietnam to oppose the applied-for mark application No. 4-2022-18756 – OLYMSTARS for protection of services “education and training; teaching; ...organizing competitions for entertainment or educational purposes” in Class 41 on the grounds that the objected mark is confusingly similar to the IOC's prior cited marks, namely (i) they all share the same letters “OLYM” as the dominant/ essential feature of these marks, and (ii) the services bearing these marks are identical and/or similar, causing consumers mistakenly believe that one mark is a variantion of another, or that both have a common origin.
