Applied-for mark  “OSCAR KARAOKE, figure” is being opposed

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, headquartered at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California 90211, U.S.A, owner of National (VN) Trademark Registration No.12920 – OSCAR, currently in effect  in Vietnam for services “entertainment services provided through an annual on-site television program related to the cinematic arts; organizing awards for film achievements” in Class 41 (the cited trademark) has petitioned with the IP Vietnam to oppose national (VN) applied-for mark application No. 4-2022-22180 - “OSCAR KARAOKE, figure”  for “karaoke entertainment service”  in Class 41 on the grounds that the applied-for mark is confusingly similar to the cited mark already registered, in particular (i) the word "OSCAR" which is the dominant and distinctive element of the applied-for-mark application is identical with the cited trademark, and (ii) the services covered by these marks are similar to each other.

The case is being handled by the IP Vietnam./.
