Applied-for mark  “PAXTOVID”  is being opposed

Pfizer Inc.,(USA), the owner of trademark application No. 4-2021-43263 “PAXLOVID”  for pharmaceutical preparations in Class 05 has petitioned with the IP Vietnam to oppose the trademark application No.4-2022-01471“PAXTOVID” sought for registration of “pharmaceutical products; herbals; functional foods; food for health protection for medical use; mouthwash for medical purposes; disinfectant, cleaning solutions for medical purposes” in Class 05 on the grounds that the contested trademark application is confusingly similar to the cited earlier trademark application“PAXLOVID”, namely these word marks are: (i) similar in their structure, pronunciation and visual impression, and (ii) also registered for the products which are considered identical and/or similar in respect of their nature, distribution channels and end-users.

The case is being handled by the IP Vietnam./.
