Vietnam attended the 61st session of the WIPO General Assembly and related meetings
The 61st session of the WIPO General Assembly opened at 10:00 a.m. on September 21, 2020 in Geneva, Switzerland. Directly attending the opening session were Mr. Francis Gurry, General Director of WIPO, Mr. Daren Tang, the new General Director of WIPO term 2020-2026, Mr. Omar Zniber, Ambassador of Morocco, Chairman of the General Assembly of WIPO and about 150 delegates from member countries and observers. Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to Geneva represented Vietnam to directly attend the Conference. On the side of the NOIP, Director Dinh Huu Phi attended the conference from Vietnam in the online form.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, this year's General Assembly of WIPO only took place within 05 days, half the time compared with the annual practice. WIPO also decided to organize the Conference in the form of a hybrid (direct and online combination), only allowing each country to send a maximum of 02 delegates to attend directly at WIPO headquarters, and set up Interprefy platforms. and Webcasting to participating member countries online.
