Client Results: The NOIP Agrees to Protect the Mark “SCOTT SAFETY & Fig.” in Vietnam

Scott Technologies, Inc. is the holder of the international registration for the mark of Scott Safety & Fig.” designated in Vietnam for the goods in class 09 such as self-contained breathing apparatus; system designed for measuring and analyzing air for breathing etc. In 2012, the National Office of Intellectual Property (the NOIP), however, refused the mark since confusingly similarity to the earlier mark “SCOTT”.

Having filed a letter of consent with the NOIP to overcome the citation of the earlier mark, Pham & Associates has successfully appealed against the NOIP’s decision on trademark refusal.

Scott Technologies, Inc., through its subsidiaries, manufactures life support respiratory products. It manufactures the Scott Air-Pak SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus), air-purifying products, gas detection instruments, thermal imaging cameras, and other life support products for firefighting and personal protection against environmental and safety hazards.
