Client/Legal Alert: New Decree No. 21/2015/ND-CP Guiding on Artist Remuneration

New Decree No. 21/2015/ND-CP replacing Decree No. 61/2002/ND-CP dated June 11, 2002 affirms the principles that artists should be remunerated for their work and earn income from copyright and royalties for the arts in respect of cinema, fine arts, photography, theater and other performing arts.

The Decree regulates the governing scope and applicable entities scope, beneficiaries, royalty, remuneration in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Code and the Intellectual Property Law and being consistent with reality.

The subject applied to the Decree are organizations, individuals who create, exploit and use the works by the State budget or organizations, individuals who exploit and use Vietnam government works.

Decree No. 21/2015/ND-CP will come into effect from April 15, 2015.
