Pham & Associates Secures Major Victory For Stolichnaya Vodka Marks in Vietnam

Pham & Associates secured a victory at the National Office of Intellectual Property (“NOIP”) in FKP Sojuzplodoimport  v. Spirits International B.V . On September 11 & 16, 2015, the NOIP issued a series of decisions which revoked ten trademark registrations in respect of the word sign “STOLICHNAYA” in Vietnam.

The ruling is an important victory for Russian state-owned company FKP Sojuzplodoimport in the legal battle with Dutch company Spirits regarding the ownership of, among other marks, trademark “STOLICHNAYA”.

The cases related to ten trademark registrations in respect of the word sign “STOLICHNAYA” which being registered after the Trademark “STOLICHNAYA RUSSIAN VODKA” under international registration no. 571311. This Registration was basically registered in 1969 in the name of the state-owned company of the Soviet Union - VVO Sojuzplodoimport then assigned the trademark rights to Spirits International B.V illegally.     

This is a major victory for FKP Sojuzplodoimport and for all people who are the fan of the genuine well-known vodka trademark “STOLICHNAYA” coming from the Russia.
