Continuation of PPH Pilot Program between NOIP - JPO for patent applications until 2022
The National Office of Intellectual Property (NOIP) and the Japanese Patent Office (JPO) will continue PPH pilot program (PPH Program) Phase 2 in 3 years from April 1, 2019 to 31/3/2022 after completing the pilot implementation of PPH Program Phase 1 (April 1, 2016 - March 31, 2019).
COMMUNITY mark has been accepted registration for Classes 25 and 35
Applied-for mark COMMUNITY under application 4-2011-28083 dated December 29th 2011 for Class 25 and Class 35 in the name of Aritzia LP (Canada) was denied registration by NOIP for the reasons of being descriptive and/or liable to mislead, confuse or deceive consumers as to the origin, functional parameters, intended purposes...of the goods/services.
Workshop on Assessing elements of patent infringement
On March 15, 2019, the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute (VIPRI) in collaboration with the Japan Trade Promotion Organization (JETRO) and the Southeast Asia Intellectual Property Network on Japanese Trade and Industry (SEAIPJ) organized a workshop on "Assessing elements of patent infringement".
Use of Vietnamese Version of NCL 11-2018
The Vietnamese version of the Nice Classification 11th Edition - Version 2018 (NCL 11-2018) has been applied to the classification of goods and services for trademark registrations in Vietnam since January 01, 2018.
Copyright lawsuit: Creator ownership in “Infant Progidies of Viet country" comics
On February 18, 2019, the People's Court of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City returned a first-instance verdict to recognize painter Le Linh as the only author of the "Infant Progidies of Viet country" comics. This copyright ownership dispute has lasted for 12 years, attracted public interest, especially the publishing community.
AQUA KEEP is accepted for registration as a whole
Intl' application no.1168792 "AQUA KEEP" for goods of Class 01 in the name of Sumitomo Seika Chemicals Co., Ltd. was temporarily refused to registration on the ground that the "AQUA KEEP" sign does not meet the protection requirements as provided for in Article 74.2 c of IP Law, namely it's descriptive.

Review of NOIP's settlement of appeal requests in 2017
